Insurance and Financing

Personalized Guidance for Every Patient

At NorthShore Center for Oral & Facial Surgery and Implantology, we believe that exceptional care should never be compromised by insurance red tape. While we are not in-network with any insurance companies, we do accept and work with most insurance plans. Even though we are not in-network, oftentimes a patient’s total out-of-pocket cost is comparable or lower with our practice than in-network surgeons who add on additional treatment codes. Our skilled insurance benefits team works on your behalf to help you maximize your coverage. We file to all PPO insurance plans, provide transparent estimates, and guide you through every step of the process.

When you choose our practice, you’re investing in board-certified surgical expertise, state-of-the-art technology, and treatment designed to last—not the lowest bidder approved by your insurance.

Why We’re Out-of-Network (and Why That Benefits You)

Insurance companies often advertise “in-network” providers as the most affordable option. In reality, this is not always the case. Here’s why:

  • In-network providers may be restricted in what materials, labs, or techniques they can use, limiting the quality of your care.
  • Out-of-network benefits still apply with PPO insurance plans, and our team files claims directly for you.
  • Our treatment plans often save patients money long-term by reducing the need for retreatment or corrections that can arise from cost-driven care.

When you choose our practice, you’re investing in board-certified surgical expertise, state-of-the-art technology, and treatment designed to last—not the lowest bidder approved by your insurance.

Flexible Financing Options

We understand that oral surgery is a meaningful investment in your health. To make care more accessible, we partner with trusted financing companies that allow you to spread payments out over time. Options include:

  • CareCredit® – A healthcare credit card offering short-term and long-term financing plans, often with promotional no-interest options when paid in full.
  • LendingClub® – Patient financing with fixed monthly payments and transparent terms, designed for larger treatment plans.
  • Cherry – A flexible “buy now, pay later” solution that allows you to split payments into smaller installments with fast, easy approval.

Our financial coordinators will walk you through these choices, help you apply, and design a plan that fits comfortably into your budget.

FAQs About Insurance & Financing

If you’re not in-network, will my insurance cover anything?
Yes. If you have a PPO plan, you can typically use your out-of-network benefits. Our team will file claims directly to your insurance provider, and in many cases patients’ total out-of-pocket costs is the same or less than for surgeons who are in-network
Won’t I save money by going to someone who is in-network?
Contrary to what you might think, in-network does not mean less expensive. We keep our fees reasonable and still work with your insurance company to get you the maximum reimbursement. Our treatment plans often come in below the cost of other in-network oral surgeons. Come see us and find out.
Why would I choose an out-of-network provider if my insurance recommends in-network?
Insurance companies use language designed to steer patients in-network because this is what works for the medical world. But in the dental world, by tacking on additional codes in-network treatment plans can sometimes result in higher costs for both the patient and the insurance company at the end of the day. Our treatment plans are designed for long-term success and value. Many patients find that they actually save money with us because they avoid repeat procedures, hidden costs, or compromises in materials and techniques.
Will I have to deal with my insurance company myself?
In most cases no. Our experienced benefits team files all claims on your behalf and helps you understand your out-of-network benefits. We act as your advocate so you can focus on your treatment, not paperwork. In the rare instance that your plan requires you to submit the claim we will provide you with all necessary documentation and walk you through the process.
Do you accept all insurance?
We accept and file claims to all PPO dental insurance plans. However, we are not contracted with any insurance companies, which means we are considered out-of-network for all carriers. We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
Will I know my out-of-pocket costs before surgery?
Yes. We provide clear, detailed estimates before treatment begins. While insurance reimbursements can vary, you will always know your financial responsibility upfront. If you prefer our insurance benefits team can submit a pre-authorization request to your dental insurance to clarify your specific coverage before your procedure.
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Yes. Through partnerships with CareCredit®, LendingClub®, and Cherry®, we offer multiple ways to spread the cost of treatment over time.
Why is insurance wording so confusing?
Insurance companies often use terms like “not covered” or “out-of-network” in ways that mislead patients into thinking they cannot use their benefits. In reality, PPO benefits typically apply out-of-network, and our team ensures you get the maximum reimbursement available.
Is it worth it to be treated by out-of-network oral surgeon?
Absolutely. Choosing an oral surgeon is about more than insurance status—it’s about safety, expertise, and lasting results. With advanced training, technology, and personalized care, we provide value that far exceeds the often misleading short-term savings that insurance companies may promise with in-network providers.
