Dr. Taras Martyniouk

Dr. Martyniouk is a highly skilled, board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon deeply rooted in the Northshore community. With a steadfast commitment to excellence, he delivers compassionate, patient-centered care that prioritizes comfort and trust. Dr. Martyniouk is dedicated to advancing his surgical expertise through continuous learning, ensuring his patients receive the most innovative, evidence-based treatments available.

As an active member of multiple esteemed professional organizations, including the National
Dental Board of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association (ADA), Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), Chicago Dental Society (CDS), and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), Dr. Martyniouk upholds the highest standards of professionalism and clinical practice.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Martyniouk and his family enjoy new culinary experiences whether it is cooking together or trying new restaurants, exploring the outdoors, and staying active at the gym.

Education & Training

Dr. Martyniouk grew up in the Northshore and began his academic journey at the University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating Summa Cum Laude and High Honors with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. He went on to earn his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, graduating at the top of his class.

Dr. Martyniouk was awarded the Health Professions Scholarship through the United States Air Force, which then helped pave the way for his acceptance into the Air Force Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California.

Clinical Practice

Upon completing his residency, Dr. Martyniouk served in Japan for two years as the chief of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department, delivering full-scope OMFS care to military personnel and their families. During this time, he achieved board certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Concluding his military career, Dr. Martyniouk returned to Travis Air Force Base as an attending surgeon and an Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University, where he facilitated the training of future oral and maxillofacial surgeons. After nine years of honorable military service, he is excited to return to his hometown with his wife and two young sons.

Dr. Martyniouk lectures on implants, dentoalveolar surgery and safe in-office sedations. He strives to perform surgeries which are successful, minimally painful and have an uneventful and quick recovery.
