Restore Facial Harmony and
Confidence with Genioplasty

Chin Enhancement by Board-Certified Oral and Facial Surgeons.

Genioplasty, or chin surgery, reshapes and repositions the chin to create better facial balance and harmony. This procedure can enhance the jawline’s proportions, refine the profile, and improve both appearance and function.

Because genioplasty repositions your natural bone rather than using an implant, it allows our surgeons to achieve precise, natural-looking, and lasting results. Whether your goal is a subtle enhancement or a more dramatic transformation, genioplasty provides a customized, long-term solution tailored to your unique features.

Improve Facial Harmony

Small changes to the chin can bring the entire face into balance. Our surgeons use advanced digital planning and 3-D imaging to harmonize the relationship between the chin, jaw, and nose—creating a natural, proportionate result that complements your individual features.

Correct Functional Concerns

Beyond esthetics, genioplasty can improve breathing, help with lip closure, and enhance soft-tissue support in the lower face—reducing early signs of aging and improving oral function.

Lasting Results, Predictable Results

Unlike fillers or implants, genioplasty permanently repositions your own bone for lifelong results without the risk of implant shifting or rejection.

A Natural, Holistic Approach

Because genioplasty uses your existing bone, your results look and feel completely natural. There are no foreign materials, no implant maintenance, and no visible scars—just a stronger, more balanced version of you.

One other point to mention is the outstanding incorporation and mastery of advanced technologies to make the procedures, the outcomes, and the patient comfort level as good as it can be. Highly recommended practice for advanced surgical care!

Rachel P.

Everyone was so nice. My procedure was explained to me and despite it sounding like it was going to take a long time and kind of painful and icky it lasted only minutes. Of course the needle injection was the most painful part of it but as i sit here now, about 8 hours post procedure, the area is only mildly painful. Thanks to the oral surgeon for bringing me in so quickly.”

Kim K.

Dental team was very accommodating to my anxiety with a blanket and squeeze ball. They even put the IV in my hand not the arm when I asked (easier to find vein) No complications with the healing process. I would recommend NorthShore Center for oral & facial surgery.

What To Expect During Your Chin Surgery

Consultation & Planning

Your journey begins with a detailed consultation and 3-D imaging to evaluate facial symmetry and bone structure. Our surgeons work with digital modeling software—and, if needed, your orthodontist—to plan the ideal chin position for your features.

Surgical Procedure

Genioplasty is performed under anesthesia in our accredited surgical facility. All incisions are made inside the mouth, leaving no visible scars. Using custom surgical guides, we precisely adjust the chin bone to achieve the desired projection and contour.

Recovery

Thanks to our minimally invasive approach, you will go home the same day. Initial recovery takes one to two weeks, with swelling improving steadily over the following months as your final contour refines.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re unhappy with your chin’s shape, size, or projection—or notice that your facial profile feels unbalanced—an evaluation with our surgeons can determine whether genioplasty is right for you.

No. Genioplasty focuses solely on repositioning the chin bone to enhance facial balance and proportion. Orthognathic surgery repositions the upper and/or lower jaws to correct bite alignment and skeletal discrepancies. In some cases, both procedures are performed together for comprehensive results.

Discomfort is typically mild to moderate and well controlled with medication. Most patients describe a feeling of tightness or swelling rather than pain.

Initial recovery takes about 1–2 weeks, and most patients return to normal activities shortly afterward. Swelling continues to improve over several months as your final contour becomes visible.

Braces are not required for genioplasty alone. Orthodontic treatment is only necessary if you are undergoing combined jaw (orthognathic) surgery.

Yes. Once the bone heals, the results of genioplasty are long-lasting and stable.

Genioplasty is typically considered elective and is not covered by most insurance plans. However, if performed for functional reasons, partial coverage may apply. Our benefits team provides transparent estimates and submits claims to help maximize any available reimbursement.
